The municipal authority has made beach wheelchairs available to ensure the beach is accessible to everyone. During the summer months (July and August), these wheelchairs can be hired as part of the Zon, Zee... Zorgeloos accessibility project, but wheelchairs are available for hire outside of the summer months too.
Electric beach wheelchairs
These robust electric beach wheelchairs make it possible to go for a trip on the beach independently, without a carer needing to be nearby at all times.
Manual beach wheelchairs
The thicker wheels on manual beach wheelchairs make them suitable for less accessible areas like the beach. A manual beach wheelchair needs someone to push it, meaning you can’t go for a trip on the beach independently.
Floating beach wheelchairs
This chair (by Tiralo) not only enables you to access the beach; you can also go into the sea. The chair can float, meaning you’ll get a complete beach and sea experience. The Tiralo chair needs someone to pull it, meaning you can’t go for a trip on the beach independently.
